Long before most Americans had heard of the Internet, the French were looking up the weather, chatting, meeting dating partners, and buying and selling things from people across the country using a little computer that connected to a network via the telephone - the Minitel. ‘MiniTaime’ (a portmanteau of Minitel and Taime meaning “to love you”) pays homage to the popular early use of the Minitel computer for dating and dreamy chatroom connections. Reflecting the aesthetics of modern app-based dating profiles, the MiniTaime system allows users to create a profile and select a potential match based on shared interests.
